A typical Sunday

I have joined Ali Edwards over at her blog and am documenting my week. It will be with photos + words. Seems like a fun thing to do since my week is pretty repetitive.
So here is a typical Sunday for us.

Every Sunday I make our menu for the week, post it on my blog for Menu Plan Monday over at Organized Junkie. I then make out my shopping list of everything we need. Sundays are usually my shopping days. We hit Walmart first and get what we can there and then head over to Safeway for the rest. Had to get gas today, pretty typical for right before taking my son to meet his dad.I have gotten really lucky and sometimes my husband works over by Olympia (were my son lives) and he has been able to take him home early Monday morning, but he is not working there today so I had to meet his Dad on Sunday at our usual spot and drop him off.

One of our local restaurants, Silvercity Brewery, does October fest every year, we don't usually go to this restaurant very often due to the cost, but we do meet friends there every year for this.

Then a typical night for us is watching Fox animation domintation, King of the Hill, Family Guy, Simpsons, American dad. My dh isn't as into it as I am so just does whatever, watches it, play Xbox360, reads, that's pretty typical.

Menu and Fall decorations

Well I was really bad this last week at making dinner, we ate out way to much. I just get into such a rut every 2 or 3 weeks. So many of my meals are from last week because I still have the ingredients for them.

~Cabbage Roll casserole

~Daria's Slow Cooker Stroganoff

~BBQ Chicken and Cheesy Potato Casserole (This one I will actually use real potatoes that I have leftover instead of the frozen kind they call for.)

~Chili Dog Casserole

~Leftover night

~Wing Night at Putter's Restaurant (Friday)

~Homemade Pizza (Sunday, I am throwing a baby shower for my sister Dani that day)

Well I wish I could decorate more, but I have actually bought quit a bit so far and still want o get 2 more garlands of leaves to put up around the house, but so far this is what I have. Lots of little bits scattered around. Love the suttle changes. I have a few more things to get and will post pics of those when I get them. I still need to do something to the front door.

This is walking into the house through the mud room, which is the way everyone comes in.

Small things in my living room.My Bathroom. This is the new shower Curtain I got at Target, love it, might actually keep it up for awhile. The the next pic is stuff on one of my shelves I have in their.

Menu Plan Mondays

OK so again it's not Monday, but I like to get my shopping done on the weekends now. Plus this weekend I am helping Ester out on Monday, Wyatt to school on Tues. and Thurs., Oil change for the car on Wednesday and scrappin with friends on Friday for my friend, Betsy's birthday. So I would rather get it all done now so it is one less thing to get done during the week.

~Homemade Pizza (Sat.)

~Whole slow cooker Chicken, green beans, Cheesy polenta

~Flat Chicken enchiladas

~Honey Rosemary Chicken w/ Yukon Gold potatoes

~Daria's slow cooker stroganoff w/ spinach salad

~Cabbage Roll Casserole

~Taco Rice (Family Favorite, recipe below)

Here is one of our family favorites, ones we make all the time. I have several family favorites and I keep them all on a separate Recipe blog. Hope you find some your family will like.

Taco Rice
1 lb. ground beef
1 onion-diced
1 pkg. taco seasoning
1 (16 oz) can Diced tomatoes
2 cups cooked rice
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Brown meat and drain. Combine meat, onion, taco seasoning, cooked rice, and tomatoes in large saucepan and simmer 5 minutes. Serve with flour tortillas, lettuce, cheese and sour cream. This is a great recipe to double or triple and freeze.

Eww Gross!

So this last week we have had a gnat/ fruit fly problem in the house. Not sure where they all came from but it was really gross and I couldn't kill them fast enough. So I was talking to my sister Kim and she told me about something my sister Beth told her, about using Apple Cider vinegar and dish soap. So I came home and looked it up and tried it out. Man did it work nice. This was what I woke up to this mornign and I had another one of these yesterday before I went to bed.
Just fill a bowl with a small amount of apple cider vinegar (enough to cover the bottom of bowl) and add a small amount of dish soap, I guess that makes them stick in it.

Preschool fun..

When we first get to the school the kids have a few minutes to play outside before the open the doors. Wyatt loves the monkey bars. He never goes farther than where he puts his hands, but he always says I like the monkey bars.
Next he goes in gets his name tags and says hello to the teacher. They then all go and wash there hands and then get to play. Since he has found this painting station he has been here the last few days when I leave him. (I so need to find those cool cups with just one timy holw in the lid. Very clean. But then I guess we would need an easel too.) Wyatt getting his stuff out of his cubby.
Wyatt's first finger painting. His teacher today said that he kept looking at her to make sure it was ok to get messy. She kept telling him ok go ahead, finally she had to count to 3 to get him started.

my TO DOs today

I have been thinking over lots of different options on how to do my TO DOs, but I think the way I do it works for me. I have tried several different ways, but seem to always go back to my trusty yellow note pad. I love these pads and use them all the time, for grocery lists, to do lists, menus, messages, notes, doodles or parties I am planning. So I guess I will just stick with these. So here are mine for the day.

Yum Yum

If you have never tried a fried Twinkie it is a must at least once. Tehy sell them at fairs and we tried our first one at a little booth outside of Bass Pro Shop in MO. They really don't even taste like a twinkie in the end. Here is a link to the recipe we used.

First Day of Preschool

We didn't think Wyatt would get into preschool because of his age and not being potty trained, but my friend, Terry, told me about the preschool her sons went to that take 3 yo and they did not need to be potty trained. So I made the call this morning and they had openings, even better today was their first day. So we got dresses and head on over for Wyatt's First day of Preschool. I am so excited, oh so is Wyatt. LOL.
